Every year, the Capital Crew Masters volunteer their time at the California International Marathon…

Why do we do it?

  • We do get a monetary donation from the CIM which has brought in cox boxes and speed coaches in the past.

  •  It’s a way to give back to other sports in hopes that they might volunteer with us.

  • It’s great to see other athletes just as committed to their sport as we are to ours.

  • It’s a great way to meet some of the other athletes that row with us, that you might otherwise never meet since you row at different times.

  • It always looks good that your non-profit group helps/volunteers in the community

At 4am at the start of the CIM 2025 marathon..frigidly cold, breath turning to mist in the dark. We unloaded runners from buses and directing the athletes up to the start line and cheered the runners as thousands of them step into their race. Attendance was said to be over 11,000 runners this year!
