Meet your fellow Rower - Marco Palilla
Capital Crew Masters has grown tremendously over the past two years—and with so many new faces joining our boats, you may occasionally find yourself thinking, “Wait…who is that person?” 😄. Well, let’s get to know each other!

When did you join Capital Crew Masters, and what inspired you to give rowing a try?
I joined Capital Crew Masters in November 2008. It was Sac State Masters back then and my inspiration was my middle daughter Sarah who was rowing for Capital Crew Varsity Women.
What do you enjoy most about rowing?
I enjoy the complete workout, the beautiful Lake Natoma setting with all of the flora and fauna, the easy access of our amazing boat house, the excellent coaching and the great teammates. Oh, and every time I tell somebody I am a Masters Rower, I feel like I am bragging!
What’s one memorable rowing moment you’ve had so far?
I won two gold medals in my novice year rowing with a group of dads from Capital Crew! John Stroud and Mark Westbrook were part of that novice team with me.
When you’re not rowing, what do you enjoy doing?
I also enjoy backpacking, golf, traveling with my wife, Patti and my 3 awesome grandkids (not in that order)!
What’s one thing your fellow rowers might be surprised to learn about you? 😄
I grew up in Truckee, California.
