What an unforgettable weekend for Capital Crew Masters at the 2026 USRowing Northwest Masters Regional Championships at Dexter Reservoir, Oregon!
Thirty of our rowers joined fellow competitors from Rocky Mountain, Long Beach, and Olden Bears for three days of challenging, rewarding, and fun racing from June 26–28. From seasoned competitors to novices and first-time racers, everyone embraced the experience with enthusiasm, determination, and incredible team spirit. It was especially wonderful to have so many family members and friends there to cheer us on every stroke of the way.
While we had the occasional rain shower, the weather couldn’t have been much better—cool, calm, and perfect for racing.
As Sebastian so perfectly said, “Rowing is made by the people you’re with,” and this weekend was a wonderful reminder of just how true that is.
Beyond the racing, our campsite became a true home away from home. Thanks to Matt’s thoughtful setup—with Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, and all the little touches that made everyone feel welcome—it became the gathering place where teammates relaxed, shared stories, celebrated races, and supported one another.
A few special thank-yous are well deserved:
Our novices and first-time racers, who jumped in with both feet, embraced every challenge, and brought family members along to share the excitement.
Mary, Margaret, and our friends from Olden Bears, along with other guest rowers who helped fill our lineups and made it possible for so many crews to compete.
Chelsea, who coxed an incredible number of races throughout the weekend, along with Asia and Gail, who also stepped in to cox whenever needed.
Mark and Heidi, for towing the small boat trailer—our valuable bargaining chip for getting the larger boats transported—and Maureen, for generously providing the trailer even though she wasn’t able to race herself.
Jackie, whose tireless behind-the-scenes work, from planning and logistics to keeping our equipment race-ready, helped make the entire weekend run so smoothly.
Most of all, thank you to every Capital Crew Masters rower for your encouragement, camaraderie, teamwork, and willingness to support one another both on and off the water. Those moments are what make weekends like this so memorable.
Congratulations to everyone who raced—you represented Capital Crew Masters with determination, sportsmanship, and pride!
